This report reveals that all the various security forces are routinely torturing and ill-treating detainees held in the context of the protests and unrest, using methods of cruelty mostly used for decades. The torture carried out appears to be part of a widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population as part of Syrian government policy to crush dissent.

Emad Mahou was arrested and tortured by Syrian military intelligence officials in July last year. He spoke to Al Jazeera from Amman, Jordan.

SYRIA: Ali Hamad Al-Issa
What words can be enough for this man? Ali was taken on 28/11/2011 and was dead in 2 hours, his body was then returned completely destroyed on the 3rd of December 2011. His neck was broken, his body black and red. His back had a large opening as the regime forces had plunged something into him. He had cigarette marks everywhere. His head was partly opened. He was taken to the air force intelligence and secret post-mortem confirmed he was dead within 2 hours of torture. Why? Because he used to treat the injured, he was famously known as a man ready to risk his life to treat the injured. What was his job? He was a maths teacher. This is what happens to our teachers.

“Syrian security agents viciously beat up young medical student, Yaman Kadri, 18 years old, in front of her classmates at Damascus University. She was then forcefully taken along with a classmate to an unknown location. Her classmate was released an hour after the arrest but Yaman Kadri is still presently being held incommunicado. Yaman faces grave danger and is at risk of torture as the regime has systematically attacked health workers and professionals who are speaking up against repression and helping the injured.”
More evidence of the “reforms” being implemented by Assad and his thugs whilst the Arab League sits and claps his efforts. Disgusting!
WOMAN ARRESTED BY PRO-BASHAR THUGS PLEADING FOR MERCY: Damascus: Oct 26, 2011 - First a man is arrested and rushed off to the torture chambers of Bashar Al Assad. Then you can hear and finally see a woman being arrested, she pleads over and over again to the men arresting her to show mercy - she knows, as all Syrians do - what happens to those that are arrested by Bashar Al Assad’s forces … incomprehensible torture with a high chance of death.

She almost signed it in her name, Tal.

Tal was taken in 2009 with no charge, she was a blogger, abducted from home. Under the age of 20. She remains in prison suffering immense torture till today, only because she wrote against the brutal regime, the Syrian Assad regime.
